Our History

The Onkaparinga Valley Football Club was formed from the amalgamation of the Hills Football League in 1967. The Onkaparinga Football Club joined with the Woodside Army to form the present  Onkaparinga Valley Football Club and made their home at Balhannah oval. Woodside oval has remained a training ground for many junior teams. The red, white and  blue tri-colours of Woodside were the chosen colours with the Bulldog becoming  the adopted symbol of the Club. In 1977 the Club became the only Club in the Hills Football League to own their headquarters. The change rooms and lounge area were built by a very hard working team lead by President David Paschke and his Committee, the now disbanded “Bulldogs Club” and a building committee of local builders that love football and the OVFC in 1978. Our loyal people have continued to develop our facilities to make them the envy of the competition.

In 1978 the combined Club won their first Premiership by defeating Heathfield Aldgate (and ending their hope of leaving the HFL as having won the last 10 premiership in a row.)

Our club culture reinforces the importance of family, growth, participation and enjoyment. While instilling a winning culture, our Club recognises that being competitive is essential yet playing within the spirit of the game is expected.
